MEDICAL STAFF PLANNING
A medical staff development plan assists in identifying the needs of the market
and the physicians. It serves as a guide for the health system and the medical
staff to develop and maintain the physician resources to meet the needs of the community.
In addition to developing the plan, DMI assists in building consensus based on
appropriate linkage between the identified quantitative and qualitative needs of
the community. The objective is to develop a plan that has the support of the board,
medical staff and administration.
A current, updated medical staff development plan will not only identify and support
the need for physician recruitment in the community, but also provide effective recruitment
and retention strategies.
DMI's approach is to:
- Interview members of the community, board, medical staff and administrative leadership
- Analyze medical staff by specialty, age and geographic location
- Review market demographic trend data
- Develop draft medical staff plan and present for revision and approval
