Goals:

• Improve patient service, clinical quality and operating efficiency for surgical services
• Strengthen the health system’s working relationship with physicians, setting the stage for a collaborative free-standing Ambulatory Surgery Center venture
• Improve utilization at the health system’s outpatient hospital

Results:
In the first 12 months after implementation:

• Outpatient surgery volume increased 26%
• OR utilization increased from 3 ORs to 5-6 ORs
• Health system is working in partnership with physicians to develop a freestanding joint venture Ambulatory Surgery Center
